Toronto police say they've arrested a man believed to be responsible for a string of bank robberies earlier this month.

Police say they arrested Christopher Leonardo after a west-end bank was held up on Nov. 16.

They say a subsequent investigation revealed that three other banks had been robbed in the same general area of the city starting on Nov. 6.

Leonardo is now charged with four counts of robbery in connection with the holdups.

He is also charged with possession of proceeds of crime.
