TORONTO - The man accused of killing a Toronto police sergeant with a stolen snow plow was remanded in custody during a brief court appearance today.

Richard Kachkar, 44, appeared by video and the case was put over to April 14.

His lawyer told the court disclosure material had been received from the Crown.

Kachkar is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Sgt. Ryan Russell.

Kachkar was shot and arrested Jan. 12 after Russell was hit while trying to stop the plow.

Russell, 35, left behind a wife and two-year-old son.
