TORONTO - The man accused of killing a Toronto police sergeant with a stolen snow plow was remanded in custody during a brief court appearance today.

Richard Kachkar, 44, appeared by video and the case was put over to April 27 when a date for a preliminary hearing will be set.

Kachkar is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Sgt. Ryan Russell.

Kachkar was shot and arrested Jan. 12 after Russell was hit while trying to stop the plow.

Russell, 35, left behind a wife and two-year-old son.
