Man, 88, killed in Highway 48 collision: OPP
An 88-year-old driver from Pefferlaw has died after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 48 in Georgina on Friday.
Police closed Highway 48 and Old Homestead Road in both directions due to the deadly crash in the intersection.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a 36-year-old woman from Shelburne was driving the second vehicle, and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Schmidt said the Pefferlaw man’s vehicle entered the intersection when it was struck by the woman’s vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police closed Highway 48 between Ridgeview Road in Georgina and Ellisview Road in Baldwin for several hours.
It has since reopened.
Provincial police are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
