Toronto police are investigating the city's second homicide of 2010 after a teen was shot dead early Thursday morning in an east-end neighbourhood.

The shooting happened just after midnight on Empringham Drive, in the Finch and Morningside Avenues area. The victim had visiting his girlfriend.

Police found the young male victim in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators believe the 19-year-old was shot at close range with a shotgun.

He was pronounced dead at Sunnybrook hospital.

"There's been no information with regards to what took place," said Insp. Howie Page of the Toronto Police, but added police did find shotgun shells on the roadway.

Police have identified the victim as Vincent Wright, nicknamed "Villin" by some, whose family resides in Scarborough's Malvern community. He lived with his grandmother.

Investigators spent the morning at the scene collecting evidence and video footage from surveillance cameras that were set up in the area. They will spend the rest of the day canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses.

Police say they do not have a description of a suspect at this point. They are appealing for witnesses and any security camera footage that could possibly help.

The family was too distraught to speak on camera. An aunt said off-camera that whoever shot Vincent to death was evil and cold-hearted.

This isn't the first time the Wrights have had to cope with a violent death. About two years ago, Tristan Wright, Vincent's uncle, was shot and killed at a Malvern house party. Relatives said Vincent never got over his uncle's death.

Anyone with information is being asked to call police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
