The Toronto Transit Commission is cutting service hours on the Yonge subway line for the next two years because of necessary repairs.

Starting Sunday night, subway service north of Eglinton Station will end at around 12:30 a.m. The TTC says it needs the extra time to complete tunnel maintenance.

"Frequent and accessible" shuttle buses will replace subway service between Finch and Eglinton stations, stopping at Lawrence, York Mills, Sheppard-Yonge and Finch stations, the TTC says.

The buses will not stop at North York Centre Station and that station will close at around 12:30 a.m. as well.

Normal service will operate on Saturday nights and early Sunday morning until the usual closing time.

Maintenance is expected to be completed in late 2010.
