Joel Merritt

Joel joined CTV London in the summer of 2015 as a News Acquisitions Editor. Now a Technical Coordinator, Joel performs many roles in the news room including director, technical director, audio, editing and you may see him in the community as a camera operator. Most of his TV career has been with Bell, beginning as a Master Control Operator with TMN and then Bell Fibe. He then moved to the CTV News team, starting at CTV Kitchener before joining London. In addition to running camera for CTV, he enjoys videography and photography in his spare time and assists in capturing performances of his partner’s rock band Gravity Wagon. In his free time, Joel loves to attend as many London events as he can, frequenting local music performances and karaoke nights throughout the city. As a self proclaimed film buff he loves to catch films at the theatre, especially the retro horror nights at Odyssey Records and Hyland Cinema. Although he was born in Chatham, Joel has considered himself a Londoner since he attended Fanshawe and Western’s Media Theory and Production program, receiving a BA degree in MIT and a diploma in Broadcast TV Production. Joel speaks English.
