LONDON, Ont. - An eight-year sentence has been handed down in the case of a London, Ont., man, who drove drunk last year and wound up killing three people, two of them children.

Andrew Kummer appeared in court this morning for sentencing in connection with the crash, which happened near Lambeth last March.

He was also slapped with a 12-year driving ban, but the Crown was seeking a 10-year sentence, plus a 20-year driving ban and a DNA sample.

The collision killed one of Kummer's passengers, 26-year-old Dave Marshall, along with two boys from the Chatham area -- Mason Berube and Devon Tinus.

The boys were coming home from a London Knights hockey game with Mason's father when Kummer's pick-up truck slammed into their vehicle.

At the sentencing hearing, witness accounts described Kummer as have little remorse since the crash happened. Some even said he was trying to joke with nurses in the hours after the deadly collision.
