TORONTO - An Osgoode Hall Law School professor says he'll seek the NDP nomination for the upcoming byelection to replace late New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton.
Craig Scott says he wants to continue Layton's legacy of fighting for social justice in Parliament.
Scott says no one can ever replace Layton, but he would be honoured to continue his fight in Toronto-Danforth.
Layton died in August at the age of 61, just weeks after revealing he had been diagnosed with an unspecified cancer.
In the May 2 election, Layton propelled the NDP to an historic high of 103 seats and official Opposition status.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper has not yet set a date for a byelection in Toronto-Danforth.
