A downtown Toronto high school was evacuated on Thursday after a student was targeted in a pepper spray attack.

Toronto police say they are searching for two suspects who are believed to have entered the school and sprayed a student with the noxious substance shortly after 12:30 p.m.

Paramedics were called to the school to assist several students and one adult suffering from the irritant. No one was taken to hospital.

The school, on Jarvis Street south of Wellesley Street, was temporarily evacuated as a precaution but classes resumed a short time later.

The suspects are believed to have fled the scene before officers arrived.
