Toronto police have arrested a contractor whose skills are featured on a home makeover TV show after a customer filed several complaints against him.

Anthony Sayers, co-host of "The Unsellables" on HGTV Canada, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of criminal harrassment
  • Attempted fraud under
  • Extortion

The 41-year-old is the owner and operator of the general contracting business "Anthony Sayers Custom Builder and Designer."

In a news release, police said the Toronto-based contractor was hired by a woman in February to complete renovations on her home.

She claimed the renos were done in a substandard fashion, and she alleged that she was criminally harassed and subjected to extortion.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

On the website for "The Unsellables," Sayers is described as the "trusty contractor" working with co-host Sofie Allsopp.

On the show, Sayers and Allsopp work to help homeowners transform their "unsightly and unsellable properties into real estate gems," according to the website.

Sayers was previously the co-star and featured consultant on the TV series "Me, My House and I," according to his website.
