Toronto’s medical officer of health issued a heat advisory on Tuesday, warning of humidex values peaking in the low forties this week.

Meanwhile, Environment Canada forecast a chance of showers and risk of thunderstorm for Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures for both days will reach a high of 30 C. The rain is expected to clear up on Thursday with sunny skies and a high of 31 C.

The week will end with a high of 33 C and a low of 18 C on Friday leading into what Environment Canada says will be a rainy weekend.

The city of Toronto’s website has a full list of cooling centres residents can visit during extreme heat alerts.

Overnight temperatures will hit a low of 20 C throughout the week to cool down the city.
