HAMILTON, Ont. - Hamilton police have charged a man with 29 counts of criminal harassment over phone calls investigators say were received by women across southern Ontario.

Police allege the conversations involved 29 women and would quickly become either violent or sexually explicit.

Investigators say the incidents started in June and became more frequent.

Police allege the suspect was divulging details which caused the women to fear they were being stalked.

The women also feared other family members may be at risk.

Joseph Demedeiros, 45, of Hamilton had a date at John Sopinka Courthouse today in Hamilton.
