A Hamilton man wanted in connection to a violent assault was arrested in his home Tuesday morning, police announced.

Police allege the suspect and another man assaulted a man in the victim's home in east Hamilton on Monday. The victim was still in hospital being treated for his injuries Tuesday morning.

It is not believed a weapon was used in the assault. Police said the seriousness of the injuries, including trauma to the head, is what is concerning.

"At this point he is in hospital and investigators have not been able to speak with him," said Hamilton police spokeswoman Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings.

Frank Haley was arrested without incident in his home around 8:30 a.m. and is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing.
