A funeral service was held for a mother and daughter who were shot dead in their Belleville, Ont., home last week.

Their caskets were placed side by side at the John R. Bush funeral home Wednesday afternoon as a hundred mourners paid their final respects.

Tracy Hannah, 46, and her 14-year-old daughter Whitney were found dead on March 12 inside their home in a rural area near the town of Ameliasburgh.

Another daughter, 18-year-old Shannon Hannah was also shot in the altercation. Her ex-boyfriend, 18-year-old Dean Brown, is in police custody facing charges in connection with the murders.

Brown and Shannon Hannah dated for several years, according to neighbours. Neighbours said he was always at the Hannah home and even vacationed with the family.

Sherry Marshall attended the funeral with her daughters. The Canadian Press quoted her as saying Whitney "was a real friendly girl. She was funny. She was lovely. She was a happy-go-lucky girl."

Another mourner, 15-year-old Ellie Lear, said Whitney was well loved in the community.

"Whitney was loved by a lot of people, and I think that was clear today," she said.

Brown was supposedly invited to spend the night at the Hannah home the evening that the murders took place.

Friends have described the Hannahs as a tight-knit, hard-working family.

Whitney Hannah was remembered as someone who was fun-loving and kind while her mother was remembered as someone who adored her children and would do anything for them.

"She was a very devoted mother to her family," Lorrie Shaw, Tracy Hannah's co-worker, told CTV Toronto last week. "She'd do anything for her kids. Anything."
