NAPANEE, Ont. - David Frost was a constant presence in the sexual relationship of one of his young hockey players, insisting on taking part in sex acts and even controlling when the young couple were allowed to have sex, the player's former girlfriend told court Tuesday.

The woman, now 28, testified that Frost first had a threesome with her and her boyfriend while Frost was coaching the Quinte Hawks in Deseronto, Ont., in 1996 - when she and her boyfriend were 16.

Frost, 41, has pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexual exploitation against two former junior A Quinte Hawks players who cannot be named.

The Canadian Press is also not identifying the two women who have testified this week about having sex with players and Frost during the period of the alleged offences, when they were juveniles, though the women are not part of the same publication ban.

On Tuesday, the second woman told court she started dating her boyfriend in the fall of 1996 and soon after was involved sexually with him. Not long after that, her boyfriend called her from the hotel where Frost and several players lived and said: "Dave wants to have sex with us."

"I was kind of shocked at first," she testified. "I was like, 'What? You want me to do what?"'

She didn't want to go through with it, she said, but was given an ultimatum: Either have a threesome with Frost or the relationship is over. The first of what would be "umpteen" incidents happened that same night.

"I was scared," she said. "I just remember being really cold."

When it was all over, she felt "awful. Like it wasn't right."

The situation was repeated again and again throughout their five-year relationship, she said.

"After however many umpteen times, it was just numbness, like, 'Let's just do it, whatever."'

"It was almost like robotic...I guess I could have said no and left and that would have been it, but I didn't...In my head I didn't have an option."

Sex was a constant source of tension for the young couple. Not only would Frost constantly have three-way sex with them, he controlled when they could and could not have sex alone, she said. She testified the control was framed in the interests of her boyfriend's hockey career, but the control continued even during the summers.

When they lived together for a time in Massachusetts, her boyfriend had to call Frost to ask if the two of them could have sex, she said. If it was after a game and he hadn't played well, the answer was no, she told court.

She would ask when they could stop having sex with Frost and when they could stop asking him for permission to have sex and the two would fight about it, she said.

She testified she asked her boyfriend one time: "If we end up getting married... are we going to have to call Dave if we want to have sex?"

When asked why she didn't just leave, she said if she left she would be punishing her boyfriend, and she didn't blame him.

The woman told court that Frost took charge of nearly every aspect of his players' lives. She said her boyfriend could only call her when Frost allowed it and she was never allowed to call him directly, that it had to be through Frost.

"Dave was the boss and it was very clear that he was in control of every action that the boys made," she testified, including not being allowed to call their parents on a whim.

"There was a look that he would give and everybody would jump... His rule was the only rule," she said.

"I'm not saying that he didn't do good for them. He got them into the NHL, which is what they wanted."

But she said the NHL was dangled like a carrot on a stick in front of the players.

When she questioned the control Frost had over them during their time in Deseronto, they would say Frost was their way into the NHL, so they had to follow his rules, she testified. When many of them got into the NHL and the situation didn't change, they would say Frost was to thank for their success, she said.
