An international buyer is shelling out $28 million for a penthouse suite at the new Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences in Toronto.

The unit is perched on the top floor of the 55-storey building that will rise up at the northeast corner of Bay Street and Yorkville Avenue.

The penthouse features 9,038 sq. ft. of living space inside Canada's most expensive condominium ever sold, the builder said in a statement.

Residents inside the penthouse with 12 ft. ceilings can gaze at the city skyline through floor-to-ceiling glass windows, or from one of the unit's four corner terraces.

The posh unit sold for $2 million under the $30 million asking price.

Also included in the purchase is a staff residence located in the complex's smaller, 26-storey East Residence tower.

The development will be home to more than 200 private residences that range in size from 1,000 to 9,000 sq. ft. The lowest asking price is $1.9 million.

Occupancy is scheduled to start in the summer of 2012.
