Pathologists were examining an exhumed box on Sunday believed to contain the remains of a 72-year-old missing Cabbagetown man.

Homicide Det.-Sgt. Pauline Gray said forensic experts were carefully analyzing the metre-square container that was dug up in the City of Kawartha Lakes, northeast of Toronto, on Thursday.

The box is believed to contain the remains of Harley Walker, who has been missing since October.

Two weeks after Walker vanished, police arrested Mississauga resident David Reid, 46. He is charged with first-degree murder.

Police said the two men met in a gay online chat room before Walker went missing.

Investigators found blood and signs of violence in Walker's home.

Police are expected to make an announcement on their weekend findings on Monday.
