OAKVILLE, Ont. -- A former Oakville, Ont., resident is facing several charges in connection with an alleged $11-million investment fraud.

Halton Region police say the charges were laid Thursday following a 12-month investigation by the fraud unit.

It's alleged that more than 70 investors were defrauded over a five-year period.

Jason Robert Laramee, 39, is charged with three counts of fraud over $5,000, three counts of possession of proceeds of crime and single counts of perjury and obstruction of justice.

Police say Laramee, who now lives in Mississauga, was the director of RBL Capital Corp. and Brekland Realty Corp., among several other companies.

He's to appear in court in Milton, Ont., on Friday for a bail hearing.
