A former Toronto daycare supervisor has been charged after allegedly defrauding a Parkdale childcare centre and other creditors of more than $100,000.

The Toronto police fraud squad said the woman was an employee of the Parkdale Beach Child Care Centre, located inside Queen Victoria Public School, until she was relieved of her managerial duties in December 2005.

Police allege she cashed funding cheques payable to the childcare centre and defrauded two cellphone companies after obtaining several personal cellphones in the name of Parkdale Beach Child Care Centre.

Police further allege the woman removed a computer and records to conceal her activities, and twice misrepresented annual draft financial statements as completed audits.

The childcare centre is registered as a not-for-profit centre and most of its funding comes from the city, police said.

Andrea Neblett, 37, faces 11 charges, including fraud over $5,000 and fraudulent concealment.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Toronto police 14 division fraud squad at 416-808-1456 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
