The 72-year-old pilot of a float plane, which crashed near Peterborough, Ont., remains in grave condition, Ontario police said on Tuesday.

Roy Crocker, from Scarborough, was injured after his two-seater pontoon plane collided with a barge and a boat on Pigeon Lake, north of Peterborough.

Ontario Provincial Police say the plane hit a barge while taking off, and then crashed into a boat.

Crocker was pulled from the plane and given CPR before being transported to a local hospital.

A 17-year-old female who was on the barge at the time was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The female was an employee at the nearby Camp Maple Leaf -- a summer camp for children of military families. No children from the camp were injured.

OPP officers and investigators from the Transportation Safety Board remained at the scene on Tuesday as they attempted to recover the downed aircraft, which has submerged into the water.

Boaters are being asked to stay out of the area during the investigation.
