OTTAWA - Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership hopeful Tim Hudak can count another federal cabinet minister as a supporter for his bid.

Transport Minister John Baird has declared today that he's in Hudak's corner.

Hudak, who is widely considered the front-runner in the race to replace former leader John Tory, also has the backing of Immigration Minister Jason Kenney.

Those endorsements could make things awkward at the federal cabinet table.

Hudak is running against Christine Elliott -- the wife of federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty -- who has secured a few federal endorsements of her own.

Tory resigned in March after losing a Lindsay-area byelection, and his successor will be announced at a convention in Markham on June 27.
