TORONTO - The father of a Toronto teen who died in a car accident in Ontario's Muskoka region has sent a letter to Premier Dalton McGuinty calling on him to crack down on young drivers.
Tim Mulcahy has also taken out a full-page ad in Saturday's Toronto Star that urges McGuinty to act.
Mulcahy's 20-year-old son Tyler and two friends, Kourosh Totonchian, 19, and Cory Mintz, 20, died last July when the car they were in went out of control and plunged into the waters of Lake Joseph, near Minett, Ont.
Mulcahy has said the youths paid a tab with 31 drinks on it before they left a Muskoka restaurant that night.
Mulcahy says he believes his son, who was driving, would still be alive if he hadn't been drinking or speeding that night.
He wants the provincial government to change provincial laws to revoke the licences of young drivers who speeding or are caught drinking.
