The family of a Toronto Transit Commission worker who was killed on the job will remember him as loving family man who was dedicated to his work.
The family of Peter Pavolvski, a 22-year veteran of the TTC who was killed Friday while supervising a team of maintenance workers, issued a statement on Sunday to commemorate their fallen husband and father.
“Our family is grieving the tragic and untimely death of our beloved Peter, together with countless others who had the privilege of knowing him. Peter was a dedicated father and a loving husband. He was a hard worker and generous to a fault,” said the statement.
“We appreciate the outpouring of grief from family, friends, neighbours and colleagues. We ask for your respect for our privacy in the difficult days ahead and for your continued prayers.”
Pavlovski is survived by his wife and three children.
Pavlovski, 49, had worked for the TTC since 1990. He most recently held the position as a subway track and tunnel foreman and led a crew of seven workers.
Pavlovski died after being struck by a service train early Friday morning. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
At the time he and his colleagues were performing work on a northbound subway line. One of his co-workers was also struck and injured by the train. He suffered non-life threatening head injuries and was released on Friday.
The TTC said it is working with the Ministry of Labour and police to determine the circumstances leading up to the incident. The last time a TTC employee was killed was in 2007.
