Maria Conte cried into the microphone at a Caledon news conference Monday as she described the pain of not knowing what happened to her son Morris Conte before he died.

Her plea was part of a new appeal for information on who might want to kill her son, whose dismembered remains were found in the District of Muskoka and the County of Simcoe in May 2010.

On May 22, pedestrians discovered two separate sets of remains in fields in Oro-Medonte Township and Lake of Bays Township, which are about two hours from each other by car. On May 28, a contractor found more body parts on the side of a road near Bracebridge.

Provincial police are now offering a $50,000 reward for information that helps them solve the crime.

Parts of his body are still missing – something preventing his mother from giving him what she calls "a proper burial."

"I think of Morris every day and I cry. I miss him. I miss him so much," she said, standing beside her other son, Morris twin brother. "What did he do to deserve this? Did he suffer?"

The family broke a long silence in Monday's appeal about the 45-year-old Bolton man's grisly murder.

Police say Conte was known to them, and that his murder may have been a message or warning to someone else. They say the body parts they've discovered weren't hidden, but left in plain sight and meant to be found.

"There was no attempt whatsoever to hide the remains," said OPP Const. Peter Leon.
