A Toronto elementary school teacher has been arrested and charged with two sex-related charge involving a teenage boy that he allegedly met while working in a downtown adult novelty store.

"On Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at approximately 10 p.m., a 15-year-old boy entered an adult novelty store in the downtown core," Toronto Police said Wednesday in a news release.

"The boy and a male employee engaged in conversation. after a period of time, the boy and the employee went to the employee's home."

Police allege the employee assaulted the boy in his home.

"The accused is also employed by the Toronto District School Board as an elementary teacher," police said.

Shawn Carr, 31, of Toronto was to have appeared in court Wednesday on charges of sexual assault and sexual interference.

He taught at Oakridge Junior Public School in the east end. The Toronto District School Board said he has been placed on home assignment.
