An 82-year-old woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was run over by a TTC bus in the city's west end Tuesday evening.

Paramedics said they responded to a call near Davenport Road and Ossington Avenue shortly before 9 p.m.

The woman was taken to a hospital trauma centre, paramedics said.

Police said the woman was attempting to cross the street, from the south side to north side, when she was hit by the bus.

The bus had a green light at the time, police said.

TTC spokesperson Brad Ross did confirm that the bus involved in the collision belonged to the TTC, but said he couldn't give any other information as police continued their investigation.

Witnesses said the elderly woman was hit as the bus was making a left turn and she went under the front tires.

It appeared that the woman's right leg was crushed. She remained conscious until an ambulance arrived, witnesses said.

The 63 Ossington bus was diverted both ways around the collision.
