The man accused of opening fire in the Eaton Centre food court appeared in court via video link on Wednesday.

Christopher Husbands, 23, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted murder and criminal negligence causing bodily harm in the June 2, 2012 shooting.

Nixon Nirmalendran, 22, died nearly two weeks after being injured in the shooting.

Ahmed Hassan, 24, was also killed in the shooting. Police believe Hassan was the target of the attack.

Husbands’ next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 1 at Old City Hall.
