A 23-year-old man had his father's Mercedes Benz towed by police after he was accused of excessive speeding in North York.

Police say they pulled over the suspect Monday night at Steeles Avenue, west of Dufferin Street, for allegedly driving 155 kilometres an hour in a 60 kilometre an hour zone.

Alcohol was not a factor, according to an officer at 32 Division.

The man was charged under the province's stunt driving laws.

The law applies to anyone caught driving 50 kilometres over the posted speed limit. A driver accused under the law must immediately surrender his licence for seven days and must have his car impounded for a week, even if the vehicle is not registered under his name.
