The driver of a tractor trailer involved in a fatal accident where Highway 427 and the QEW intersect is now facing criminal charges.

On Nov. 5 at about 6:15 a.m., a tractor trailer pulling a load of scrap copper hit the guard rail as it travelled south on the 427.

The trailer became separated from the tractor and went over the railing, falling onto the eastbound lanes of the QEW.

It crushed five vehicles, killing Oakville resident Harry Taylor and sending four other people to hospital. Taylor's 18-year-old daughter was in the vehicle with him at the time.

Jeremy Liedtke, 29, of London has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

He is to appear in court in Toronto on Feb. 25.
