OSHAWA, Ont. - A two-month crackdown on street gang activity in Durham Region east of Toronto has resulted in 38 arrests and more than 170 criminal and drug related charges.

Durham Regional police began making the arrests in December in an operation dubbed Project Albion which began last August.

Suspects were arrested in Oshawa, Whitby, Pickering, Bowmanville and several other communities in the area.

During the arrests, investigators seized two handguns and various quantities of cocaine, crack-cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine pills, cash and counterfeit currency.

Those charged included a 16-year old female and a 17-year-old male.

The oldest is 55 years and most of the accused are between the ages of 21 and 25.
