The mother of a young Toronto man shot to death at a bus stop is pleading for people to help bring his killers to justice.

To the shooters, Clemee Joseph said this through tears on Wednesday as she stood very near where her son was slain: "I just want you to know that we miss him already. We miss him dearly. Nobody deserves to die that way."

She asked them to turn themselves in, but also described them as "cowards."

To the public, she said: "I want to appeal to the Toronto public to rally around me as a mother."

Jarvis St. Remy, 18, had been at 4049 Dundas St. W., which is just west of Scarlett Road, last Friday.

At about 10:45 p.m., two suspects confronted St. Remy. One of them had a handgun.

Police say at least two shots were fired. St. Remy died in hospital, making him Toronto's 16th homicide victim of 2009.

All police have to go on is that the two suspects were wearing black hoodies. But they also think someone must have been something. They say they have not determined a motive.

St. Remy loved basketball and had dreams of becoming a computer engineer.

"My son was a good child who loved everybody and never had an enemy.  He would help anyone at any time," Jones said.

She asked all young men to stay away from guns. "Guns will not get you anywhere in life. You need a clean police record to get anywhere in life," she said.

St. Remy's funeral is scheduled for Saturday -- the day before Mother's Day.
