TORONTO -- A cyclist is dead after a fail-to-remain collision involving a tractor trailer in Mississauga overnight.

Police say that the tractor trailer was headed northbound on Hurontario Street at around midnight when it hit the cyclist near Dundas Street.

The cyclist, a 55-year-old man, was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead at around 4 a.m.

Police are continuing to investigate.

“The tractor trailer did not remain on scene, however witness accounts say it is possibly a white tractor trailer,” Const. Sarah Patten told CP24 on Thursday morning.

“Our Major Collision Bureau is still investigating. They will be canvassing the area for video surveillance and witnesses and they are urging anyone with dash cam footage to contact them.”

No further vehicle description has been released at this point.
