ORILLIA, Ont. - Provincial police say they've charged a Canada Revenue Agency employee from Toronto with a number of charges, including fraud and forgery.
Police allege a Canada Revenue Agency employee accepted money while claiming to be a consultant able to deal with taxpayer-related matters.
Investigators also say false information was provided to police in 2008, causing a probe into the activities of an elected official in Caledon, Ont.
The investigation in 2008 determined that the allegations against the official were unfounded and that there was no evidence of misconduct.
Jeffrey Lee Granger, 36, faces charges including breach of trust, fraud over $5,000, secret commissions and uttering a forged document.
Granger is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 30 in Newmarket, Ont.
