BRANTFORD, Ont. - A Brantford, Ont., couple appeared in court this morning, charged with criminal negligence causing death after their baby son died earlier this year.
Brantford police and EMS were called to a residence Jan. 13 after receiving a call that a young child was unresponsive.
A 17-month-old baby boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was performed in Hamilton and the coroner's office also investigated the death.
Police arrested the parents Tuesday and also charged them with aggravated assault and failure to provide the necessities of life.
Insp. Kent Pottruff says the judge issued a ban on publishing the names of the parents and the deceased child when the couple appeared in court this morning.
