A construction worker was injured after 30 pieces of glass fell on him in the Distillery District Friday afternoon.

Toronto police spokesperson Const. Tony Vella said the man was working on a site at 390 Cherry Street when he was injured, shortly before 2 p.m.

Paramedics said a skid stacked with glass fell onto the man, who is in his mid-30s.

He sustained injuries to his lower leg, paramedics said.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
