After 35 years in broadcast journalism, from her early days as an energetic reporter at CFTO to her long career behind the anchor desk, Christine Bentley is moving on to new challenges.

Bentley first joined the CTV family in 1977 as a general assignment reporter in Toronto, delivering the news for what was then called CFTO.

She soon became assigned to City Hall, cutting her teeth on municipal politics and mayoral elections, before focusing on provincial politics at Queen’s Park.

Bentley’s next move was to the weekend anchor desk, and then to CTV’s late-night newscast, Night Beat News, where she worked for more than a decade before joining CTV’s 6 p.m. newscast.

Away from the newsroom, Bentley has worked for numerous charities, including the Canadian Cancer Society and CTV’s Toy Mountain. She has also worked as an ambassador-at-large for the Children’s Wish Foundation.

Wish Christine well in the comments below, and share your memories of her long career.
