Police charged a man Monday afternoon in the case of two dead women found at a Markham, Ont. home after investigators determined the deaths were a double homicide.

Christopher Little, 35, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is the husband of one of the victims, 33-year-old Julie Crocker.

The identity of the other victim is not known.

Crocker and Little had separated recently. She had reportedly started a relationship with another man who was in Halifax at the time of the deaths.

As police were investigating on Monday, Crocker's identity became known.

York Regional Police did not identify the victims, but property records indicated that the home was owned by Crocker and Little. She was an account manager at Toronto radio station CHFI.

A message on the radio station's website expressed sadness at news of Crocker's death.

Sandy Sanderson, Executive Vice President of Rogers Radio called Crocker "an exemplary and respected account manager," in the online message.

"Julie will be missed by her friends and co-workers here at the station and in the radio industry. Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathy are extended to her children and family," the statement read.

The radio station said police confirmed to them that Crocker was one of the people killed inside the home.

Police said the bodies were found at about 3:30 a.m. in the house at 95 Larkin Ave., near 9th Line and 16th Avenue.

Const. Laurie Perks told reporters there was obvious evidence of trauma inside the home. Both women are believed to be in their 30s. It is not yet known if the victims are related.

Two children, aged three and four, were also found in the home. They were taken to a police station to be picked up by relatives.

"They are fine and uninjured," Perks said.

Both children were believed to be asleep when the women were killed.

Police learned of the grisly discovery after receiving a 911 call from a person "connected" to the family.

Neighbours said a couple with two young children lived in the home.

"They moved in within the last year-and-a-half," said one man.

"They have a five-year-old child in junior kindergarten who goes to the same public school as my son. Very lovely little child.

"And they just seemed like a normal family, seeing them out doing the gardening in the summertime, playing with the kids, that sort of thing."

Police set up a command post outside the home and covered the outside of the garage with a large piece of white tarp.
