TORONTO - Toronto radio station CFRB has given pink slips to 12 employees today in what's being called part of a restructuring move.

Sherry O'Neil, general manager of the Toronto cluster of Astral Radio, says they are "evolving the product on the air" to boost ratings.

Among those let go are on air personalities, including Paul and Carol Mott, Michael Coren and Jacqui Delaney, news staffers, including newscaster Kris McCusker, and producers.

O'Neil says the station, which bills itself as Newstalk 1010, will retain the news and talk format and add some new personalities.

She adds the move had nothing to do with the economy and that any money saved will be put back into the station.
