MEGEVE, France -- Canada's Brady Leman won a silver medal at the men's skicross World Cup on Saturday.

Leman finished second behind Jean Frederic Chapuis of France. The Canadian made a strong pass to move from fourth to second and held the position for his second podium appearance of the season.

"I was pretty confident today," Leman said. "I just knew I had to ski strong, ski the way that I knew I could (and) I would be in the final and I would have a chance at winning.

"All day the focus was on nailing the start, not trying too hard, trying to be smooth. It went really well the first three rounds and I carried that."

Paul Eckert of Germany was third.

Louis-Pierre Helie of Berthierville, Que., finished 12th and Chris Del Bosco of Montreal was 14th.

Leman, from Calgary, earned a bronze medal earlier this season at Val Thorens, France.
