Pedestrian critically injured in downtown Calgary collision

A pedestrian was sent to hospital in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle downtown on Friday morning.

Calgary police responded to the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Fourth Street S.E. around 9:45 a.m. for reports of a collision involving a pedestrian.

The victim suffered life-threatening/altering injuries, according to police.

Road closures were expected to be in effect in the area as police investigate.

At the scene in front of the Real Canadian Superstore, a garbage truck was seen inside the area taped off by police, surrounded by first responders.
