A school bus driver has been charged after he refused a breathalyzer test while driving a busload of school children.

On Friday, a citizen's tip alerted police that Jerry McNeill, 58, was allegedly driving a school bus under the influence.

Police pulled the bus over at approximately 2:30 p.m. where they attempted to test the driver's alcohol level.

At the time, McNeill was driving a Laidlaw school bus with 39 children on board ranging in ages from eight to 12.

McNeill has since been charged with refusal of approved screening device.

He is scheduled to appear at College Park Court on Sept. 11.
