Bus and school cancellations in effect for Thursday as Ontario storm hits
As snow continues to fall across southern Ontario, some school buses are preparing for treacherous driving conditions and cancelling their routes Thursday.
While the snowfall is expected to end by Thursday morning, some spots will see up to 20 centimetres of snow.
Here’s what you need to know from each school board throughout the GTHA and Niagara. The full list of school bus cancellations will be updated as information becomes available.
Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB)
The TDSB and TCDSB say all school buses are cancelled today as a result of the weather. However all schools remain open. Parents can find updates here.
York Region District School Board (YRDSB) and York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB)
Both YRDSB and YCSDB have cancelled all of their school transportation services Thursday due to the anticipated inclement weather.
All schools will remain open, though YRDSB notes secondary students with in-person exams Thursday will have them rescheduled at another time.
Durham District School Board (DDSB) and Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB)
The DDSB says buses are cancelled in all zones, but schools remain open.
The DCDSB said Durham Student Transportation Services has cancelled buses in all zones due to road conditions. All DCDSB schools remain open.
Halton District School Board (HDSB) and Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB)
All Halton District and Halton Catholic District schools are open, but transportation services (morning and afternoon) are cancelled in Zones 1, 2 & 3.
Peel Region District School Board (PDSB) and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board
All transportation in Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3 is cancelled today.
Conseil Scolaire Catholique MonAvenir

Conseil Scolaire Viamonde

District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) and Niagara Catholic District School Board
Both the DSBN and Niagara Catholic DSB postponed Wednesday’s exams and activities to Thursday.
Student transportation is running today but delays and service impacts are anticipated due to road conditions in some areas.Some stops may not be accessible and, in those cases, families will be notified directly.
Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB)
The HWDSB says buses are not running. Schools, childcare centres, and administrative buildings are closed. Exam cancellation procedures are in effect for a severe weather event.
Catholic schools remain open, but buses are also cancelled.
