Gunfire again erupted on the streets near the home of 15-year-old Jordan Manners, with the shooting occurring only hours after community leaders called for an end to youth violence.

Bullets flew on Driftwood Court in North York shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday night, with one projectile smashing through a bedroom window where a 12-year-old girl was, police said.

The brazen shooting involved two groups of people who were firing at each other on the street, police said. Luckily, no one was injured.

Emergency task force officers followed one suspect into an apartment on Driftwood Court and arrested him.

Tyrone Ransome, 23, has been charged with six firearms offences and two counts of breaching court orders. He was scheduled to appear at the Finch Avenue courts on Thursday.

Two others inside the unit were arrested, but they were not charged.

Police returned to the apartment with a search warrant late Wednesday and seized a semi-automatic gun stolen during a break-and-enter in Lindsay.

Hours before the shooting, leaders from the black and Jewish communities came together hours to push the Ontario government to call a public inquiry into the death of Jordan Manners.

The coalition has planned a citizen's inquest on June 12 at a community centre near C.W. Jefferys Collegiate, where Manners was gunned down May 23.

Shots rung out on Shoreham Drive last Friday, less than 10 hours after more than 800 mourners packed a church to remember Manners at his funeral.

As many as three-dozen bullets were fired, sending residents scrambling for cover.

The shots appeared to come from three different weapons, police said, but detectives wouldn't confirm if the shots were fired in tribute to the slain teen or as an act of intended violence.

Manners' mother, Lorraine Small, was moved to a safe location following the shooting.

One man was arrested in that incident.
