A 16-year-old boy is dead after he was shot outside a townhouse complex in Brampton early Saturday morning.

Peel police were called after gunshots were reported in the area of Collins Crescent, near Kennedy Road and Williams Parkway, at about 12:35 a.m.

Officers located the teenager suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Alex Masih of Brampton.

Police don't have any information on a suspect or a possible motive for the slaying.

The homicide is the region's 17th of the year.
