An 18-year-old Brampton man has turned himself in to police, in connection with an altercation that left a 15-year-old girl unconscious, police say.

Peel police were called to attend a fight on Wexford Drive in Brampton just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday. When police arrived, they found a teenage girl unconscious on the ground. She was taken to hospital after regaining consciousness.

Police tweeted that they were aware of a video posted online that appears to show a man lifting the girl off her feet, then slamming her onto the sidewalk, while a group of people watch.

In the video, the impact appears to knock the girl unconscious, as she doesn't move after hitting the ground.

The girl was checked for internal injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The girl in the video told reporters she suffered a concussion, and was treated in hospital but has since been released.

She said she doesn't remember much about the incident.

"Me and a group of friends were walking and arguing… and I think something was said to that guy that threw me down. I don't know, I don't remember. I just woke up in the ambulance," she said Tuesday.

Joseph Gordon, 18, of Brampton is in custody, Peel police say.
