An 18-year-old man accused of taking part in a home invasion that left a Brampton man dead appeared in court Sunday to face a first-degree murder charge.

The charge comes four days after George Kalogerakis, 38, was found with a stab wound to his neck inside a townhouse on Earth Star Trail, in the Dixie Road and Bovaird Drive area.

Kalogerakis, who was found around 1 a.m., was rushed to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Peel Regional Police say that the death was not a random attack and Insp. Norm English said earlier this week that it was a "home invasion gone very, very wrong."

Police believe that the incident began when three armed men burst into the Brampton home looking for drugs. Kalogerakis, who lived at the home with his mother, was attacked during the break-in and became Peel Region's 18th murder victim of the year, police say.

Officers are working under the theory that the suspects then fled the home in the victim's car, which was a black, 2005 Nissan Altima. The car was later found in the Jane and Finch area and is currently being examined by forensics experts.

The two other suspects are wanted in the death and police say they could be armed and dangerous.

Isaac Kwakye, 18, of Brampton was arrested in the incident on Saturday and now faces a first-degree murder charge.

Anyone with information is asked to call 905-453-2121, ext. 3205, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
