Students at a Brampton high school were put under  a short lockdown Monday afternoon as police investigated a report of an illegal weapon on the premises.

St. Edmund Campion Secondary School, located on Brisdale Drive, near Sandalwood Parkway West and Creditview Road, was put under lockdown at about 1:45 p.m., police said. The lockdown was lifted just after 3 p.m.

Peel Regional Police say no one at the school was injured but that a 17-year-old boy was taken into custody.

All students have been dismissed for the day.

Parents were told to wait for their children at Brisdale Public School, located a short distance from the high school at 370 Brisdale Drive.
