A Brampton couple has been taken into custody and charged in connection with the shooting death of a 25-year-old man outside a Mississauga apartment building.

Andres David Buritica-Marin died after being shot behind a Shipp Drive apartment building on Tuesday night, less than one kilometre from the Square One Shopping Centre.

For investigative reasons, police have not released Buritica-Marin's hometown, though they have said he was not living in the Greater Toronto Area at the time of his death.

Police initially said they were looking for three suspects who were spotted leaving the scene immediately after the shooting. Police say two vehicles -- a dark-coloured Mercedes SUV and a smaller, silver car -- were also spotted leaving the scene.

On Thursday, police arrested 45-year-old Collin Nathan Theodore Reid, who has been charged with second degree murder.

The next day, Denton McKenzie, 49, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Police say McKenzie is known on the street as "Cash" and uses several other aliases, including Hugh Linton, Hugh Linton Semoy and Fred Cash.

McKenzie's wife, Carolyn Alexander, 38, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to the murder.

Police are still appealing to the public to come forward with information about the murder. Anyone with information is asked to call 905-453-2121 ext. 3205 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
