TORONTO - A seven-year-old boy has died in a Toronto hospital after being pulled out of Lake Muskoka last weekend.

Provincial police say Fazan Sheikh was swimming with three friends at Muskoka Beach on Sunday when the children experienced some kind of distress in deep water.

Three of the youths made it back to shore, while emergency crews began searching for Sheikh.

They found the Brampton boy in 10 to 15 feet of water at the mouth of the Hoc Roc River.

Investigation revealed he had been in the water for more than half an hour.

Sheikh was transported to Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
